Every release of the WPR Multipurpose Theme, newest first. Updates arrive automatically in Dashboard → Updates on any site running 1.1.2 or later.

1.8.5 — 28 August 2026

  • Links in body copy are styled. Only prose pages styled their links, so a link inside a card, a lead, a feature row or a category panel fell through to the browser default — blue and underlined — on any page that used one. They now match the rest of the theme wherever they appear.
  • That includes the closing call-to-action band, which inverts the palette: the accent used by links is remapped there, the way the warn accent already was, so a link on that band stays readable instead of going near-black.

  • Blocks used on their own no longer run edge to edge. The feature list, punch line and paragraph blocks carry no section of their own, because they are normally placed inside a section heading block — but nothing stopped you inserting them at the top level of a page, where they rendered flush against both sides of the window with no padding at all. They now get a section when they need one. Nested use is unchanged.
  • The theme screenshot was rebuilt. It still advertised nine colour schemes, six releases after there were fifteen, and it is now generated from the theme rather than captured by hand, so it cannot drift again.

  • The theme no longer installs its own documentation. The readme, the design guide and the update notes sat in the theme folder and were frozen at whatever they said on release day, which made them read as authoritative while going out of date. They are kept current in the public repository instead. Updating removes the stale copies from your site.
  • Nothing else changes: no styling, no settings, no markup.

1.7.0 — 26 August 2026

  • Backgrounds are now their own Customizer section, and cover six surfaces rather than three: the page, the header, the footer, the alternating section bands, cards and panels, and the primary button.
  • Each surface takes one fill — a solid colour or a gradient — and an optional texture layered over it, so a texture on a gradient is still available rather than being a choice between the two.
  • Thirteen new textures, grouped as Geometric (chevron, triangular lattice, plus grid, herringbone, concentric rings), Material (paper fibre, canvas weave, concrete speckle, linen) and Ambient (mesh, spotlight, vignette, scanlines). Everything is drawn in CSS or a generated SVG, so no texture adds a download.
  • A gradient on the primary button carries through to its hover state, and its label is checked against both ends of the gradient rather than only the flat colour it was derived from.
  • Existing background settings are unchanged: anything set in 1.6.4 keeps its meaning and renders identically, and a site rolled back to an earlier version reads the settings it knows and ignores the rest.

  • The header can now be set to scroll away with the page instead of staying at the top. Customizer → Header → Sticky header.
  • The page, the header and the footer can each take a gradient, a texture, or both. Seven gradient directions, five textures (dots, grid, diagonal lines, cross-hatch and fine grain), each at three strengths.
  • Textures are drawn in CSS rather than shipped as images, so they add no download and stay sharp on any screen, and they take their colour from the scheme — a texture reverses itself on a dark scheme instead of vanishing.
  • Header and footer backgrounds are optional: left empty they inherit the page, so changing scheme still moves the whole site together. Give one a colour of its own and the text on it is re-derived to stay readable, so a dark header on a light site does not strand the navigation.
  • Testimonial quotes follow the body font and body weight. They were on the heading font, so changing the body font left them behind.

1.6.3 — 24 August 2026

  • Fixed View version details showing a “refused to connect” error. The link opened wprelieve.com inside a frame in your own dashboard, which every site but ours blocks as cross-origin. The release notes are now rendered by your own site, so the panel opens everywhere.
  • Release notes now ship inside the theme, so the panel shows what changed in the version you are being offered rather than sending you off-site to read it.

  • First attempt at the fix above. Superseded the same day by 1.6.3: the panel it added could fail on sites running a plugin that hooks the admin scripts strictly. Update to 1.6.3.

1.6.1 — 23 August 2026

  • The individual colour pickers now show the colours of whichever scheme you have chosen, instead of sitting empty. They stay on automatic until you actually change one, so the scheme keeps driving anything you have not touched.
  • Fixed the one-click contrast fix on the dark schemes: it darkened the colour whatever the background, which on a dark page made the text harder to read rather than easier.

  • Six new colour schemes, bringing the total to fifteen: Corporate Blue, Charcoal & Amber, Terracotta & Sand, Monochrome, and the first two dark schemes — Midnight and Obsidian.
  • Every colour in the new schemes is derived rather than picked by eye, then checked against the same contrast contract the Customizer readout uses.
  • Fixed the closing call-to-action band washing out its link colour on a dark scheme. That band inverts the palette, so it needed to mix away from the page rather than always toward white.

  • Removed the FAQ schema toggle added in 1.5.1 — the theme already emits FAQPage structured data automatically for any page using the FAQ block, and the toggle duplicated it. Nothing to configure: it simply works, and pages carrying their own hand-written FAQ JSON-LD are left alone.

  • Two new animation types: Rise and settle (a slight tilt corrected as the section lands) and Wipe up (uncovered from the bottom — suits screenshots and video).
  • Count numbers up: stat figures climb to their value as they come into view. Parses the text as written — “$78,000” keeps its symbol and grouping; “24/7” is left alone.
  • Reveal headings word by word, first section heading on a page only. Accent colours and line breaks survive, and screen readers hear one sentence.
  • Clearer animation settings: the master switch is now Animations, and Playback chooses between playing once and following the scroll position.
  • Scroll-linked reveals retimed so the motion happens where you are actually looking, and grids stagger again instead of moving as one slab.
  • Blog posts now animate (featured image, related posts).

  • Updates now come from wprelieve.com with every download verified against a published SHA-256 checksum before WordPress unpacks it.
  • Media + text block: video can play automatically (muted, looping, honouring reduced motion), at a chosen playback speed, with the media right, left, above or below the text.
  • Customizer reorganised into seven focused sections: Colours, Typography, Layout & Sizing, Animations, Header, Footer, Blog & Shop.
  • Scroll-linked motion option — sections reveal as you scroll and reverse when you scroll back — and a fix that makes the sticky header actually stick.
